Man Stabs 14 Family Members To Death Over Property Dispute, Hangs Self

An Indian man on Sunday hanged himself after stabbing 14 members of his family to death over property dispute, The Hindu reports.

The incident occurred in in the city of Thane, Maharashtra in Konkan Division.

The suspect was identified as 35-year-old chartered accountant, Hansil Warekar.

According to the Indian Express, there was a party organised at the Warekars residence on Saturday, which many of his relatives attended.

Quoting joint police commissioner, Ashutosh Dumbare, the paper reports that the incident occurred between 2.00am and 2.30am on Sunday.

The commissioner said: “Prima facie evidence suggests that the accused bolted all the doors of the house and murdered his family while they were asleep with a knife that we found near his body. The accused then hung himself after killing his family. There were three rooms in the house, while he was in a room with his wife and two daughters on the first floor, his parents and sisters were in separate rooms on the ground floor.”

The deceased include eight children, his wife, his three sisters, and his parents.
