Argentina captain, Lionel Messi has reacted to Nigeria’s 1-2 loss to the Albiceleste in the last group D game in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Messi scored Argentina’s first goal after brilliantly controlling Ever Banega’s long pass before Victor Moses equalised from the penalty spot.

However, a late Marcos Rojo goal secured victory for the Argentines, who qualified as runners up from the group.

Speaking in a post-match interview, the 31-year-old said he was hugely relieved after the pulsating encounter.

He said, “We have suffered a lot because it was a difficult situation.

“There was a lot at stake and of course it was a huge relief for all of us.

“It was a difficult match because of the results before and many other things that have been said. We knew it was going to be difficult but fortunately we have achieved our aim.

“We didn’t think that we were going to suffer as much as we have. We were quite confident that we would be able to go through and fortunately it became true.”
