In a heartbreaking turn of events, Toluige Olokoobi Babalola, the mother of Oreofeoluwa, the young boy who became an internet sensation in 2020 for his viral video pleading with his mother to ‘calm down’, has reportedly taken her own life under circumstances yet to be fully understood.

The Herald gathered that this tragic incident is said to have occurred in Benin, Edo state.

Oreofeoluwa, affectionately known as ‘Mummy Calm Down’ boy, captured the hearts of millions worldwide with his adorable plea, which went viral across social media platforms.

This video propelled him to fame, leading to numerous opportunities, including meeting with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, securing ambassadorial deals, and even making an appearance in a movie.

However, the joy and success that the young boy had brought to his family has been overshadowed by the sorrow of his mother’s alleged suicide.

Although details about the incident remain unverified, a social media user identified as @sammydo214 shared the devastating news on Twitter.

The user mentioned that the deceased left behind her husband and three children, one of whom is Oreofeoluwa.

The tweet read: “The woman in the viral Mummy Calm Down video has just committed suicide here in Benin. She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left 3 kids for her husband, including the popular Mummy Calm down boy.”
