Serie A: Napoli names Gennaro Gattuso as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement

Former AC Milan boss, Gennaro Gattuso has been named new manager at Napoli as he replaces Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti was sacked after he successfully qualified the team for the Uefa Champions League round of 16 with a 4-0 win over Genk.

The 41-year-old ex-Italian international and former AC Milan boss had this to say on his appointment.

“We need to work hard, win back points and come through this tricky period.”

“The aim is to recoup points and get back into the Champions League positions,” he added.

After a stellar last season, Napoli currently languishes in seventh place on the Serie A log.

Gattuso he played under Ancelotti at AC Milan had this to say about his former boss –

“He is like a father to me. He’s always been close to me and supported me. He’s won it all and I still have a lot to prove.”
