Ofordile told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that the training was to enable youths become self employed.

Ofordile said the various participants that had been trained had undergone business orientation to equip them with management skills to set up businesses after the training.

According to her, the skills acquisition training was done to make the impact of the NDE felt at the grassroots.

“Our programme which runs for months is set to assist in bringing down the level of unemployment, create small-scale enterprises, reduce rural-urban migration and youth restiveness.’’

The NDE coordinator said the directorate’s training was unique in that it marked the beginning of a lifetime intervention in the existence of the unemployed and previously unskilled beneficiaries.

She said that the directorate had over time positively transformed the lives of millions of unemployed persons through job creation activities.

The coordinator explained that their strategies had become a model for other countries to emulate.
