Nigerians hit by cash crunch

Two commercial banks, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Standard Chartered Bank, have received accolades from Nigerians for their conduct in the implementation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s naira redesign policy.

Many Nigerians have criticised the CBN and commercial banks in the country for the hardship they have been experiencing in withdrawing their monies at Automatated Teller Machine (ATM) points and over-the-counter across the country.

Amid the confusion generated, the anti-grat agencies have arrested some bank staff for alleged sabotage of the naira redesign policy.

However, some Nigerians took to social media on Monday evening to single out two banks, FCMB and Standard Chartered, for praise for making their withdrawal process hassle-free.

In a tweet, a Twitter influencer, Morris Monye asked Nigerians to name banks they have been impressed by.

“Which bank is issuing new notes without any restrictions.

“Let’s even praise the banks that are not frustrating Nigerians.

“Tell us in the comment section,” Monye tweeted.
