Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2” tour has become the highest-grossing tour by a female rapper in history. In its first 17 shows alone, the tour has raked in a staggering $34.9 million from 220,000 tickets sold. Touring Data took to Twitter to celebrate the achievement, stating: “@NICKIMINAJ’s ‘Pink Friday 2’ officially becomes the most successful tour by a female rapper in history, with $34.9 million from 220,000 tickets sold in its first 17 shows.”
The tour also boasts the record for the highest-grossing concert by a female rapper. On March 30th, 2024, Minaj’s New York City show at Madison Square Garden brought in a phenomenal $2.858 million.
This record-breaking success has reignited discussions about a possible African leg of the tour. Previously, a Nigerian fan expressed disappointment at the tour’s exclusion of Africa. Nicki Minaj, known as the “Queen of Rap,” responded by hinting at the possibility of including Nigeria if there was enough fan interest. Whether fans in Nigeria and other African countries will see Minaj on their shores remains to be seen.
