Like a scene from a Hollywood story, officers of the Nigeria Police force carried out a rescue mission for wives of police wives abducted by kidnappers alongside 6 other people.

The two wives of Nigeria police officers were rescued alongside six other victims of kidnappers by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit on Friday night.

The abducted victims were ambushed and seized while travelling around the Ubima axis of Port Harcourt-Owerri Road by the kidnappers at about 9pm on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

The bus had been hijacked and its route diverted into a forest in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, where the kidnappers kept and tortured their victims.

The Kidnappers did not stop at torturing their victims, they seized their bank debit cards and withdrew monies belonging to their victims.

After inflicting physical injury on several others, the abductors forced the victims to call their relatives to demand for ransom.

Upon rescue however, the victims were taken to hospital wing of the Navy War College in Ubima, where they received immediate medical attention from injuries sustained in captivity.

Narrating his ordeal, the driver of the bus who was abducted alongside his passengers said it took the intervention of the security operatives to rescue them from their abductors while he revealed that several victims paid ransom for their release through their relatives.

“First, we want to thank God for sparing our lives; we also thank the Nigerian Police, especially the IGP Monitoring Unit in Rivers State. God used them to save our lives,” he said.

Obviously proud of the commando feat of the men under his command, the Commander of the IGP Monitoring Unit, Benneth Igwe, said it took him and his men three days of searching the forest to locate and rescue the kidnapped victims.
