Nigerian Stock Exchange Ends Day Down by 0.19%

The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange continued its losing streak as it shed 0.19% after losing 0.91% on Friday on the back of depressed investor sentiments, moving down by 39 basis points to end the day at 29,136.85 basis points.  Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N10.01 trillion.

A total of 2,886 deals recorded on the floor today, 4.07% more than 2,773 deals recorded yesterday; the total volume of shares traded on the floor  were 308,122,057, while the total value of transactions recorded today were N2.96 billion.

PZ led the gainers chart, adding N0.99 to end the day with a share price of N24.99, followed by FLOURMILL and GUARANTY which gained N0.89 and N0.51 to close at N22.05 and N23.6 respectively; BERGER and ZENITHBANK added N0.33 and N0.30 to close at N10.1 and N17.9 respectively.

The Losers chart was led by NESTLE who lost N4.01 to close at N821, followed by UNILEVER and UACN who lost N1.93 and N1.32 to close with share prices of N36.75 and N25.16 respectively; GUINNESS and DANGCEM lost N1.25 and N1.03 to close with share prices of N123.75 and N162 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were UBA with 116,823,681 shares valued at N408 million, ZENITHBANK with 63,474,584 shares valued at N1.11 billion , FBNH with 31,957,103 shares valued at N160 million, OANDO with 16,425,962 shares valued at N98.2 million and ACCESS with 9,523,882 shares valued at N43.9 million; a combined total of 135 million shares traded.

Market breadth closed positive as PZ led 27 Gainers against 18 Losers led by NESTLE.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -15.87%.
