Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the epic response popular author and feminist, Chimamanda Adichie got from American political commentator and known supporter of US President Donald Trump, Dana Loesch, over her grasp of chivalry.
Adichie had famously said on an American TV programme: “I think gestures like holding the door shouldn’t be gender-based.
“I’m quite happy for people to hold the door for me. But I hope they’re not doing it because of this sort of idea of chivalry.
“Because chivalry is really about the idea that women are somehow weak and need protecting. But we know that really, there are many women who are stronger than many men.”
However, Loesch, the spokesperson of the National Rifle Association, had responded by telling Adichie to return to Nigeria and help fight genital mutilation, which, she said, is a greater disservice to women than men holding doors open for them.
Taking to Instagram, many Nigerians expressed differing opinions on Loesch’s response to Adichie.

real_mzeejosh my question is do you yourself think it’s wrong for a man to open door for you.. There are many things that chimamanda place as chivalry whereas they are just respect for sexes.. The same reason men open doors for women is the same reason wives cook for their husband… And a woman in her position if she is really concerned about the female gender is suppose to look into female genital mutilation and early marriages.. But the question is Is she really concerned about the female gender or equality between sex….

__finch I think chimamanda is just trying hard to make sense by disrespecting chivalry to equality.., respecting a lady is a way of being a gentleman and shouldn’t be seeing as weakness nor strength, I’m sure her parents collected dowry on her and that’s a fine example of women being fragile and should be treated with care and protection,even in the holy Bible and holy Quran says a man will go out there to fend food for his family and not with his wife nor the other way around.., Think monkey.. Think!!!
