Osun election declared inconclusive by INEC

Nigerians have taken to social media to express diverse opinions on the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the result of Saturday’s Osun gubernatorial election as “inconclusive”.

The INEC Returning Officer Joseph Afuwape disclosed that the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, secured 254,699 votes while Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress had 254,345 votes.

Afuwape said that the electoral body could not declare any party the winner as the difference between both leading candidates was 353 votes  while 3,549 votes had been cancelled.

However, many Nigerians supported INEC’s decision while many others castigated the electoral body, alleging foul play.
