NIQS Warns Against the Patronage of Quacks

The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), on Thursday in Abuja warned against patronage of quacks.

Mr Mohammed Abba, NIQS President, made the call while addressing a news conference on the forthcoming of the institute’s 2020 Annual General Meeting scheduled to hold from Nov. 11 to Nov. 13 in Minna, Niger State.

“We need to get the message out there. Activities of these quacks in the field are unprofessional and unacceptable in the construction industries.

“Definitely we will come after them and ensure that they are prosecuted.

“Our advice to developers is to engage in professional quantity surveyors for your projects.

Speaking further on the transformation ongoing in the institute, Abba said NIQS is embarking on a rebranding process in order to properly situate the institute within the context of domestic and global changes.

“We will be unveiling our brand identity during the 2020 AGM in Minna.

“We are leveraging on the next 50 years of NIQS for wider reimbursement of members and the larger society.

“50 years after the NIQS came into existence, major changes in the political, social, and technological environment has had a tremendous impact on the institute and quantity surveying profession.

“In the next 50 years, the institute will be anchored on a foundation that will benefit the larger society, “ he said. (NAN)
