Nollywood producer Mike Omoruyi arrested with guns in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a Nollywood producer, Mike Omoruyi for being in possession of different firearms.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest in a Saturday statement.

According to the command, Omoruyi, 37, was nabbed by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on patrol along Obiaruku/Umuebu community.

Also arrested alongside the Nollywood producer was an alleged gun runner, Chief Otuya Josiah, 57.

Guns recovered from the scene included one Lar rifle without magazine, one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one air rifle, one pump action, one English double barrel gun and two toy guns.

The guns were inside the Nollywood star’s vehicle at the time of arrest, the statement said.

“Investigation later revealed that the suspect happens to be a Nollywood producer who hired the above mentioned guns for film production.

“Further investigation led to arrest of the suspected gun runner, one Chief Otuya Josiah ‘m’ 57 years of Umuebu community who confessed renting same to the first suspect at cost of fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) for film production. Investigation is ongoing,” Edafe said.
