Serve With Skirts, an advocacy group has staged a protest demanding the inclusion of skirts in the uniform of National Youths Service Corps (NYSC)
Udochi Emmanuel, Leader of the group said the compulsion of female corps members wearing trousers was an infringement on their fundamental human rights Section (38)1 of the Nigerian constitution.
She said;
“We had our mothers wearing skirts and we want to go back to that.
“We have asked for exemption (sic) severally. NYSC has not given that as an option, they have made it a compulsory one-year service for everyone below the age of 30 and they are mandated to wear those clothes.
“We have already started negotiations (with government) and we hope that from this dialogue we will get a favourable response.”
She threatened to take the case to court if the matter does not get the attention of relevant authorities.

It’s not compulsory to go for NYSC if you can’t abide by the rules, you people should stop this nonsense. You can stay with your pastor at home if he asked you not to wear what is safe for the rigor of paramilitary training you’re to go through at the NYSC camp

This is what happens when Religion takes the place of common sense. NYSC camp can be physically demanding. How do expect to perform activities smartly in this labulabu skirt? Poverty is worrying them too sha.

It’s not everything you’ll see through the eyes of religion, how do you wantu wear pleated skirt to climb rope, is NYSC a joke to you, if you can’t dress the proper way, Plis go home.
If the NYSC officials decided to allow skirt Khaki for corpers how would these girls perform all those rigorous exercises with skirt? We should be fighting for the eligibility to pick a PPA of our choice in order to enhance job opportunities but no, we want to involve religion!
