Ogun Government to Upgrade Parks, Garages to Enhance Service Delivery – Commissioner

Ogun state government has announced plans to upgrade its parks and garages across the state for better service delivery to the people.

The state Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo made the announcement at an interactive session in Abeokuta on Saturday with stakeholders in the state’s transportation sector.

Dairo explained that the government would partner with the private sector for the development and transformation of the parks and garages.

He stated that the programme, tagged, “Emerging Transport Sector Policy”, had become necessary to keep stakeholders, including the traffic enforcement agency,  abreast of international best practice in the industry.

The commissioner added that the programme would enhance better understanding of the vision of the state government to exchange ideas and create synergy in the development of the state’s transportation system.

“The motivation that drives the activities of the ministry is the vision of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, which is to create a viable transportation system with safety, efficiency, and affordability.

“The vision can be achieved through harmonious working relationships of stakeholders and principal actors in the ministry, who are in charge of the formulation and implementation of policies.

Earlier, in his address,  Secretary to the State Government (SSG)  Mr Tokunbo Saraki, said the government was committed to creating a transportation system that would further make life easier for the people.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Parks and Garages Development, Mr  Habeeb Ajayi, expressed the readiness of the agency to partner with other principal actors outside the ministry for the implementation of the policies and programmes of the government.

He assured that steps would be taken to ensure that life was made easier for the people, through an affordable, accessible and effective transportation system in the state.
