The Lamidi Apapa-led faction of Labour Party (LP) has reiterated its support for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s effort to reclaim their ‘stolen mandate’ at the presidential election petition tribunal.
This is contained in a communique issued by the faction at the end of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Recall that the Julius Abure-led faction earlier held a NEC meeting in Asaba, Delta State, which was attended by the presidential candidate, Peter Obi; vice-presidential candidate, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed; Governor-elect of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti; and other prominent members of the party.
Speaking in Bauchi, Apapa and the Acting National Secretary, Saleh Lawan, said that they have forgiven party stalwarts that attended the “illegal” Aburi faction-led NEC meeting.

“We have forgiven those who attended the illegal NEC meeting in Asaba because they acted ignorantly and were in contempt of the FCT High Court’s restraining order.
“However, the LP believes in the rule of law and will stand with its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to reclaim our stolen mandate at the presidential election petition tribunal,” the communique read in part.
The NEC meeting also announced the suspended of 12 members from the party, citing anti-party activities and unruly behaviou’ against the LP leadership, including issuing statement without authority of the party.
“The NEC suspended 12 of its members namely, Obiora Ifo, Kenneth Okonkwo, Pst. Adebayo Ekong, P. Igene, Adeola Adebanjo, Pst. Funke Awolowo, Sam Okpala, Folusho Leigh, Folakemi Collins, Olubunmi Adesanya, Lanre Adenuga and Dr. Olatubosun Oswald,” the statement read in part.
