Like Dangote, Orji Kalu reveals interest in buying Arsenal

Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu says he is interested in buying Arsenal FC, the popular English Premier League side.

The former Abia State Governor disclosed this in a series of tweets on Monday and Tuesday.

Kalu said he was looking towards buying 35 per cent stake in the club.

The African Pillar of Sports said he would have bought Enyimba FC, which he supported to achieve Continental success, but cannot because it is government-owned.

The billionaire businessman-cum-politician wrote, “As a young man, I embraced business before I walked into politics.

“I found greatness in trading before the call to serve beckoned.

“The records out there are evidently confirming this position. I see opportunities and never afraid to make them possibilities.

“This was richly applied in my love for football and remarkable results were achieved in Enyimba FC.

“I read some of your comments asking me to invest in Enyimba FC instead,  but I can’t because Enyimba is a government enterprise and not a commercial entity. I would have long bought Enyimba if it was commercialised.

“With Arsenal, we will make Enyimba become great again with the strategic partnership we are packaging.

“We shall turn it around to create a platform for more of our professional players seeking international exposure A win-win outing for all parties and valuable investment as well.

“Doing what you love and loving it is where greatness lies. I need 35% of Arsenal to bring back trophies.”

The Herald earlier reported that Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote was equally interested in buying the North London club.

Forbes said Arsenal’s team value stood at $2.268 billion in 2019.
