Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi has donated N10 million to equip Dominic Health Centre, a health facility that services a remote community, Obinofia Ndiagu in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Obi disclosed this in a Friday statement shared via his verified X handle.

The 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) said the donation was in furtherance of his commitment to caring for people, especially the less privileged, and in continually investing in the critical areas of national development.

The former Anambra governor disclosed Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev Callistus Onaga, had two years ago notified him about the desperate need to build a primary health centre in the area because they had access to none.

“I graciously responded and contributed to building the health centre. When the appeal came that the building had been completed, but not yet equipped, I decided to visit the community again to lend my support in equipping the primary health centre.

“We must understand the crucial significance of this primary healthcare centre to the community where access to healthcare was previously unavailable.

“It was a long difficult journey going there, but I was glad I made it,” Obi said.

He added, “Though things are difficult, we should all continue to contribute to the development of the nation by investing in these critical areas of human development; health, education, and lifting people out of poverty, which will better the lives of our people.

“In our country Nigeria, no one should be left behind in our developmental journey.”
