Supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi have called on him to publicly state his stance on the money laundering conviction of the Director-General of his campaign, Dr. Doyin Okupe.

The supporters, popularly known as Obidients, made their position known on Twitter on Tuesday.

Recall that Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday convicted Okupe for breaching the Money Laundering Act and jailed him for two years, with an option of N500,000 fine on each of the 26 count charges for which he was found guilty.

Speaking on Monday during an interactive session with journalists in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, Obi said he was undaunted by the conviction of Okupe.

“I am hearing about it (the conviction) just like you. I am still studying what is coming out of the courts and everything. I believe in the rule of law. It is not going to demoralise me,” he told reporters.
