A popular pastor and founder of the Love Fire Ministry, Pastor Godwin Emmanuel popularly known as Prophet Speed has been murdered by unknown gunmen.
The pastor and spiritual leader of the Pentecostal ministry located at 3, Ugiagbe street, off Country Home Motel Road, in Benin, Edo State was shot dead by the gunmen on Sunday.
Reports indicated that the popular prophet was shot dead along Oko Central road, off Airport road, Benin, Edo state on Sunday night.
Addressing the murder of the church pastor and founder, the head of media of the church, Festus Edema, confirmed the demise of the cleric to journalists.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the pastor was on his way to distribute food items to members of the church who are in need when he met with his untimely death in the hands of the gunmen.
Festus Edema further revealed that the cleric was shot dead by the unknown gunmen pretended to be pushing their car which broke down around Oko Central road before perpetrating the evil act
Edema added: “The man of God stopped for them to pass so that he can have his way. He never knew that they were the people came to attack him. So that is how they gave him shots in the chest and the stomach.
“Being the strong man, he still tried to put the car in reverse and as he was reversing the car, he hit the fence and they came to give him a close range shot that silenced him.”
Another member of the ministry, Pastor Esquire, who spoke on the death of its leader said: “When I heard about the news of his death, it was devastating and shocking. It is a painful one, very painful, but God will give us the strength to go through it.”
