Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have already begun to reap the benefits of having Lionel Messi, who is arguably football’s greatest star, in their squad.

Messi, who signed a two-year contract with an option of a further year, is to earn $41 million in wages per annum.

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had said the world would be “shocked” by the financial revenues generated by the club’s signing of the six-time Ballon D’Or winner.

The signing was expected to bring a windfall of commercial revenues, through such avenues as jersey sales.

Marca reported that within the first 24 hours of his arrival, the club sold 832,000 jerseys, bringing in approximately $105 million in revenue.

The club gets to keep around 10%, which is $10.5 million in profit on the first day.
