A call by some senators from Rivers state on President Buhari to reconsider presenting former governor of the state, RT Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is like a medicine after death. It seems a mere wish in the limbo of time, considering the latter immense and pivotal contributions to the emergence of APC and its general, a venerated General Muhammadu Buhari stressing that he is being investigated for fraud while in office is akin to basket which does not hold water.
This unholy complaints is coming too belatedly, simply because, Amaechi is among the ministerial nominees to be screened by the Senate whose head has a case to answer or an explanation regarding his assets declaration, this seems to be saying our local parlance of ‘’ show me your friends and I will in certainty tell you who are’’
Habitually, this would have passed disregarded as being one of those persnickety issues that people drum up support in media fusses but for the bogus allegations even though; disbelievingly against a game changer venerated Rt. Hon. C Amaechi the former governor of Rviers State by some perilous thinking Senators such as Sekibo and others’ call for removal of Amaechi’s name from the list is unarguably uncalled for, Ameachi is one of their own, please leave him alone as called by some pro group telling these sadists to stop playing politics when it concerns national issues, as the Amaechi is a valuable asset any day and anytime or is it because; he belongs to APC that saw to the demise of PDP in the Niger Delta region, what is his offence ? This is democracy right to free association and movement.
I’m responding to the said publication without the permission of the ‘accused’, taking into cognizance their dispositions on the matter of allegation, funds, as it concerns a political bulldozer Amaechi.
Speaking with journalists, Senator George Thompson Sekibo (Rivers East), on behalf of senators from the state on a self mission without the consultations of other Distinguished Senators, said Amaechi was alleged to have looted N70billion of Rivers state funds, as a learned person, Sekibo ‘s attention is hereby drawn to allow competent court to the needful since the probing is not concluded yet, which Amaechi has however, denied the allegation, maintaining that he is being witch-hunted by his successor, Nyesom Wike. And Wike should be informed also that he can’t be a governor forever, in fact, he is tenant in the government house.
According to Sekibo, “The Integrity Group”, a non-governmental organization orchestrated by whom to do that?, had two months ago petitioned the president over fraud and corruption ‘’allegedly’’ committed by Amaechi while he was governor, maintaining that the president might not have seen the document, but said that stopping Amaechi’s confirmation at the senate was the next option this is baseless, please the Distinguished allow things to take its natural cause Mr. PMB is on course, he knows where it pitches, just like the governor of Cross River, Mr. Ayade, said last week on privatization of national assets “ that its totally unaccepted for few individuals to have cornered it to themselves”
“Senator Sekibo should be advised to reserve his energy for the task ahead , as the law of the land is not asleep instead of this -‘’I’m informed that this petition reached the EFCC two months ago. And soon they will begin investigation, he can’t tell EFCC to do what is right or the needful, can he instigates EFCC against Amaechi? ‘’As a serving minister, how can Amaechi be investigated for corruption?” he asked’’.
On fight against corruption by PMB, Senator Sekibo is not getting point hence, his statement assumed that, the PMB witch-hunting few individuals belonging to opposition parties is a clear demonstration that he is taking personal with Amaechi, as the Senator continued his self applauded speech ‘’as a state, we are fighting to recover our looted funds just as the president is fighting to recover the nation’s stolen funds is an ill compares. Our take is, if you are appointing Amaechi as minister, how do you want him to be investigated? We want the president to know that there are allegations of corruption and fraud against Amaechi.”
