RIO 2016: Micheal Phelps Suffers Crushing Defeat To Singapore’s Schooling

The United States’ Micheal Phelps’ winning streak was brought to an untimely end yesterday, Friday, August 12 as he was knocked out of the Gold challenge by Singapore’s 21-year-old Joseph Schooling.

Schooling’s win makes it the first Gold medal to Singapore’s name in the Olympics as he won the 100m butterfly against Phelps.

What sparked more controversy after the win was the release of an old photo of Micheal Phelps and young Schooling.

Schooling who couldn’t believe his win against his mentor said: “I’m sorry if I don’t seem like I’m full of emotions but I don’t know what to believe – that I actually did it or I’m still preparing for my race”.

He added: “I’m between the two of them”.

Micheal Phelps who already has four Gold medals to his name in the competition finished second in the 100m butterfly along with Chad Le Clos, Laszlo Cseh.
