Cristiano Ronaldo’s €100m (£88m/$117m) move to Juventus with the player, club and agent confirming it. It will mark the striker’s fourth club change and each time has been to a different country.

According to Juventus, it was actually the Portuguese forward that started negotiations after growing disillusioned with life in the Spanish capital.

The 33-year-old will earn a whopping €30 million (£26.5m/$35m) per season.

It is the hope of Juventus fans that Ronaldo will lead them to European glory. The Italian club has lost 2 finals in three years and on at least two occasions it was Ronaldo who was mainly the cause of their inability to progress in Europe.

Speaking on the transfer, Juventus’ chief executive Giuseppe Marotta revealed that Ronaldo was the first to show interest in a move

“I’m happy, very happy,”

“The real protagonists of this team are the player himself and the Juventus shareholders.

“It was Cristiano Ronaldo who was the first to believe in this, the first to launch it. He chose Juve, and when we understood that we could seize this opportunity, the shareholders of the club agreed to support the move. I insist, it was a great team game.

“It all began when we started dealing with Joao Cancelo, who has the same agent of Ronaldo.”

The signing has thrown Italy into a frenzy as fans of the Old Lady can’t wait to see their new signing in action.
