The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sent a message to his opponents in the 2023 governorship election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of Labour Party (LP) and Abdulazeez Adediran aka Jandor of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),to team up with him to develop the state.

Sanwo-Olu said this in an X post shortly after the Supreme Court affirmed his victory on Friday.

In affirming Sanwo-Olu’s victory, Justice Garba Lawal, who read the lead judgment, dismissed the appeal filed by Rhodes-Vivour.

The LP had urged the apex court to hold that the March 18 election was marred by irregularities and non-compliance with the Electoral Act, adding that Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat was not qualified to contest the election.

Similarly, Adediran filed 34 grounds of appeal, asking the apex court to upturn the verdict of the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.

However, the Supreme Court resolved the issues in favour of Sanwo-Olu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the judgement, Sanwo-Olu said, “I’m grateful for the Supreme Court’s affirmation of my election as Governor of Lagos State.

“An affirmation that revalidates the trust and confidence our people have placed in our vision for a greater Lagos. Thank you all for your unwavering support.

“Like I always say, there are no victors and no vanquished. I invite those still on the fence to join our train of progressive governance. We run an inclusive government and do not claim a monopoly of ideas.

“@drobafemihamzat and I are privileged to have been elected to serve at this auspicious moment in the history of our state. Let’s continue working together to build a Lagos that thrives, progresses, and uplifts every resident.
