Senate Vows to Probe Murder of Corp Member by Police

Nigerians have reacted on social media following the promise by the Nigerian senate to look into the murder of twenty-three year old Miss Linda Angela Igwetu; a youth corps member serving in the federal capital territory Abuja, who was shot and killed by men of the Nigeria Police force in the early hours of Wednesday, 1 day to her POP.

The senate president, Bukol;a saraki in a tweet revealed that the committee on Youth, Sports and Health as well as that of the Police Affairs has been directed to investigate the incident and report back to plenary in two weeks.

In a follow up tweet, he said…

Every Nigerian life is important. Especially those of our young people who are full of life and about to start their careers. May the soul of the dear and departed Linda be granted a place among the righteous ones. Amen”

While reacting, some Nigerians opined that two weeks was too long a time for such an investigation as the full details of the incident has already been made available to the public..

@lou_whiz said…”forgive me to say this sir. But two weeks is way too long to find out why an enforcer of the law would shoot a ward of the state especially as you have the culprit already. Please give her family justice sir.

Others are however of the opinion that sensitive matters like this should not be rushed

@cheifow writes…”it isn’t too long, 2 weeks isn’t too much, it will give the senate committee on police adequate time to investigate more on what really led to her death..”

May the soul of the dearly departed Linda rest in perfect peace.
