Serena Williams breezed past Laura Siegemund in straight set to books Auckland Classic Semis

American Serena Williams, 38, beat Lura Seigemund in straight set to book a place in the Semi-finals of the ongoing Auckland Classic in New Zealand. The 21-time singles Grand Slam champion brushed the 73rd seeded German aside in 6-4 6-3 sets.

Williams will next face fellow American Amanda Anisimova after the latter dispatched her opponent Eugenie Bouchard 6-2 3-6 6-4.

Caroline Wozniacki beat German fourth seed Julia Gorges 6-1 6-4 to book her semi-final ticket and will next face unseeded American Jessica Pegula.

The pair of Wozniacki and Williams are through to the semis of the doubles final after beating the team of Kirsten Flipkens and Alison van Uytvanck 7-6 (11-9) 6-2.

The action continues in Brisbane with Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka beating 6-3 3-6 6-3 and will face either Czech Karolina Pliskova or American Alison Riske.
