Chimamanda Adichie

Popular writer and notable feminist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has incurred the irk of some Nigerian meninists (men and women who support men) over a recent comment in which she said she felt sorry for men because they cannot feel the motions and emotions of reproduction.

The celebrated author made the controversial comment while reacting to a question on how motherhood had affected her writing schedule.

She had said, “My baby happened, and it’s important to talk honestly about this, because having her changed a lot.

“Having a child gets in the way of writing. It does. You can’t own your time the way you used to.

“But the other thing that motherhood does — and I kind of feel sorry for men that they can’t have this — is open up a new emotional plane that can feed your art.”

Taking to social media, many Nigerian men, and some women, slammed Chimamanda for the comment, with many querying why she always feels the need to compare both sexes, which may be signs of her battling an inner psychological issue with men.

Read some reactions our reporter monitored at Instablog9jq below:

zahir_dr She has the urge to talk, make headlines, trend for a minute or two… She used to make sense when her niche was just telling the African story… But now, bringing this unhealthy competition that shouldn’t even exist, that’s low…. You are a great writer @chimamanda_adichie … I think you should focus more on that…. Everyone is unique… But at the same time, there will always be that hierarchy…. That’s what keeps the world in order… Cheers love

mrstretch10@steph__nii Must everything be by gender comparison? Still does not make sense

chinny_akpa I’m indifferent about her, BUT why the constant attack on men? I find it degrading…

mc_bakassi If only she know that the sweetest thing on earth is Ejeculation. ………we are science students shaa ,so she is talking to those who understands art

b.e.k0147 This woman thinks she’s King Solomon’s first wife 🤦🏿‍♂️

capt_mason Sorry for yourself

jyzelo@missokhifo Buh I kinda get her point tho’ having an experience firsthand changes a lot of things about u. The bond of childbirth women experience is one of them…….. men can’t have that

lewisaddiss I love the fact that chimamanda is very smart. Thank you, enjoy the emotional plane of having to carry a baby for nine month ,we would get our emotions from some where else lol

pappichullo This one wants to be a MAN by force 😂😂😂😂

styled_by_adekunle She must have had a hard time growing up, and still ended up marrying a weak person. And what if she’s mentally unstable?
