Mutinous and rebellious Croatian striker Nikola Kalinic has rejected a World Cup runners-up medal presented to him by his team-mates and coaching staff.
The arrogant Kalinic who did not play a minute at the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia was obviously too shamefaced to accept the medal.
Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic had sent him packing after the country’s opening game against Nigeria in which he refused to come on as a substitute in their 2-0 win, with a flimsy excuse of a back problem.
“Thanks for the medal, but I did not play in Russia,” Kalinic told Sportske Novosti.
His teammates went ahead to etch their names in their countries sporting history when they lost by 4 goals to 2 in the final against France.
