Sheriff To Quit As PDP Chair On May 21

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed the date of its national convention on May 21, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

This was contained in a communique jointly signed by the National Chairman, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff and the National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, issued after the party National Executive Council meeting at the national secretariat on Monday.

According to the communique, the National Chairman and other members of the National Working Committee are expected to step down before the convention, where new national party officials are expected to be elected.

Sheriff said that the NEC approved the timetable for the party’s congresses and national convention.

The communique equally said that the NEC approved the extension of the tenure of office of all organs of the party at all levels until when the congresses and national convention hold.

However, Edo and Ondo States’ party organs are not affected by the directive.
