Social media has been thrown into a frenzy after Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II claimed his ancestors founded Lagos.
The Herald earlier reported that Oba of Benin made the claim on Sunday evening during a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina.
During the visit, Oba of Benin stated that according to history, the modern-day Lagos was founded by Prince Ado, the son of the first Oba of Benin. He added that Lagos and Benin share a common heritage and culture, and urged the people to preserve their identity and values.
The claim however stirred mixed reactions from netizens who left their different opinions, The Herald captured some via X formerly called Twitter, see below;

WHO NOW FOUNDED LAGOS?
Tinubu said he founded Lagos and made it what it is today, and without him there will be no Lagos.
The Oba of Benin because of that came to Lagos to tell the Governor that it was The Benin People that founded Lagos.
