Social Media Critic Verydarkman Remanded in Police Custody on Cyberstalking Charges

1 Min Read

Popular social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known online as Verydarkman, was remanded in police custody today by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Otse faces five counts of cyberstalking charges brought by the Nigeria Police Force. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, requested bail, but the prosecution team sought more time to respond. Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon adjourned the bail hearing until May 29th.

While the prosecution requested Otse be held in prison custody, his lawyers successfully argued for his detainment in police custody. He was subsequently transferred to the National Cybercrime Centre.

This is not Otse’s first brush with the justice system. The 27-year-old critic, known for his controversial takes, was previously remanded in March 2024 for similar cyberbullying offenses. He has been a target of controversy since January of this year.
