Stop apologising for actions of Obidients – Shehu Sani advises Peter Obi

A former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has advised the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi to refrain from constantly apologising for the actions of his supporters popularly called Obidients.

Sani gave the piece of advice in a tweet on Thursday.

His tweet came barely a day after Obi took to the social media platform to dissociate the Obidient movement from those raining abuses on the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for purportedly backing President-elect Bola Tinubu.

Adeboye was quoted in an online report as saying that Tinubu, whose wife attends RCCG, would fix Nigeria with God’s help.

“Thank God the President-elect has promised to fix Nigeria. If God helps him, Nigeria will prosper in his hands,” Vanguard quoted Adeboye as saying through his Special Assistant, Pastor Dele Balogun, at the church’s monthly Thanksgiving held Sunday, May 7.

Adeboye was severely criticised for the remark on social media, especially Twitter, by Nigerians suspected to be Obidients.

In a Wednesday tweet, Obi said, “The use of subterfuge by people masquerading as Obidients to abuse and insult eminent personalities like Most Reverend Pastor Enoch Adeboye or anyone else is most unacceptable. Obidients are by and large, law-abiding citizens.”

In an apparent reaction on Thursday, Sani advised Obi to stop apologising for everything done by Obidients, noting that other presidential candidates do not apologise in such manner.

“Asiwaju, Atiku & Buhari never denounce or apologise for whatever their supporters say or do. Peter keeps apologising & disassociating. If U keep moving on this apologetic path you will kill the libido of your http://movement.

“You sparked a fire, embrace the inferno with courage,” Sani tweeted.
