In what could be described as a masterstroke, Luis Suarez looks set to make his Barcelona debut against fierce rival, Real Madrid, in the El Classico.
The release of the fixtures led to a lot of reactions from divided fans, with Barca fans obviously happy and Real and neutral fans wondering about the co-incidence
Suarez’s four months ban for biting Italian defender, Giogio Chielini, ends on 25 October, 2014 and the season’s first classic is scheduled for the weekend, 25-26 October, 2014 .
The fact that the random fixture generator for the La Liga is electronic has not quelled conspiracy theories but this should be a big one for the Spanish League and everyone will be pleased.
The second fixture will be played at the Nou Camp on 22 March, 2015. Suarez’s ban prevents him from training with his club as well as even setting foot inside any stadium including the Camp Nou and Barcelona will be all too delighted to have him playing even if his first game is against their eternal enemies.
It would be recalled that Suarez also experienced a similar scenario last season with his first game back for Liverpool after a 10-game ban for biting Chelsea defender, Branislav Ivanovic.
