Israel-based Super Eagles star, John Ogu has said he wept when some Israeli friends sent him a video of men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) brutalising a man in Nigeria.

John Ogu said this in the caption of the video which he posted to his verified Twitter account on Friday.

In the video, six armed SARS operatives can be seen trying to force a man into a waiting commercial vehicle popularly known as ‘danfo‘ in Lagos, where the incident is believed to have taken place.

The danfo is also painted in the yellow and black colours used for commercial vehicles in Nigeria’s commercial centre, strengthening the belief that the incident occurred in Lagos.

In the undated video, the man, whose offence remains unknown, can be seen struggling with the SARS operatives, who hit in repeatedly with an iron road.

The victim is eventually subdued and taken into the vehicle.

Alleged constant harassment and extortion of young Nigerian men by the special police unit has led to the promotion of the #EndSARS campaign on social media.

The #EndSARS campaign seeks to force the government to end the unit by bringing to the fore evidence and reports of brutality and harassment perpetrated by SARS men.
