SZA has reacted to claimed made by Drake that the duo dated in 2008.
Drake had a surprising revelation in his new song with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin: he dated SZA. In his new feature “Mr. Right Now,” the Canadian rapper, 33, claims that he and the “Prom” singer, 29, dated over a decade ago.
In 2008, Drake would have been either 21 or 22 years old, while SZA would have been just 17 – unless the two had dated after her 18th birthday on November 8th.
Social media began buzzing over the age disparity as one user posted screenshots of a calculator with their ages at the time with the caption: ‘Drake just said “I was dating sza back in 08” but UHHH.’
Another user took umbrage with the relationship as they wrote: ‘Knowing now that Drake dated SZA in 2008 doesn’t sit right with me.’
The age of consent in Drake’s native Toronto, Canada is 16, however, it is 18 where he resides currently in California.

After social media began buzzing over the age disparity, Sza, born Solána Imani Rowe, wrote in a tweet: “So It was actually 2009 lol 🙃.. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered 🥴lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace 🤝💎
“I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening . Completely innocent . Lifetimes ago.”
