Pope Francis, the Supreme leader of the Catholic church expressed his fears at the state of the world in the official papal plane on his way to Chile and Peru on Monday.

The day before there had been a false nuclear missile alert which had started a panic in Hawaii which already had fears of a nuclear attack.

The 81 year old said: “I think we are at the very edge.”

The pope said when asked about the threat of a war after all the nuclear and missile tests being conducted by North Korea.

“I am really afraid of this. One accident is enough to precipitate things,” Pope Francis said pulling out a picture from his bag of an image taken in 1945 after Nagasaki. The picture was of a young boy carrying his dead brother after the US bombed Nagasaki.

On the back of the picture the Pope had written ‘The fruit of war.’

“I wanted to reprint and distribute it because an image like this can be more moving than a thousand words. That is why I wanted to share it with you.” he said.
