Late Aisha Isa Fagge was a new bride who unfortunately was just 12 years in marriage when she was brutally raped by yet-to-be identified persons in August 2015.

Five months after the shocking incident, the circumstances that led to her death still remains unknown.

20-year-old Aisha, killed in her matrimonial home in Ja`en Sharada Quarters Kano, was found dead in her sitting room around 01:25pm when most residents in the area had gone for congregational Juma’at prayers, on that day.

Aisha’s husband, Muhammad Nura told police that he found her body naked in the sitting room, with both of her hands tied with a rope. He explained that he had spoken with her on the phone around 10:00am and everything was moving finely. According he got home and became worried when he didn’t see or hear anything in the house.

“So I had no choice than to invite someone around and with my neighbor, Abdulkadir we broke down the door, and entered the house to find what happened to my beloved new wife, Nura stated.

But the situation changed completely as the police claim that the deadly mission was carried out by a rapist but late Aisha`s family insists that the murder was purely the work of ritualist.

One of the family members who spoke to Herald News paper under the condition of anonymity stated that the women who performed the cleansing ritual on late Aisha’s corpse did not see any signs of rape. She was found fully clothed with no sign to show she struggled with the ‘rapist’. Only her husband, Nura, can explain better since he was the first person in the house on that fateful Friday last year, said the source.

On their part Police Public Relations Officer DSP Magaji Musa Majia said Late Aisha was found dead and naked with her two hands tied with a rope, suggesting that she was raped before killed, and he added that police during investigation discovered some bloodstains and semen on Abdulzahir Muhammad Saminu known as (Biggy) Babba in Hausa, one of the two suspects arrested. Saminu is the grooms’ friend, while the other suspect is Rabi’u Abdulkadir, a neighbor.

The suspects were later arraigned before a Shari’ah court at Rijiyar-Lemo for a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder contrary to sections 221 and 145 of Kano State Shari’ah Law 2000.

But when the case came up last Monday, the deceased’s husband Nura Muhammad, was also arrested on the premises of the court as requested by the prosecution counsel Barrister Lamido Abba Soran Dinki on the premise that Nura had a hand in the murder of late Aisha.

During the court session, Nura Muhammad as first prosecution witness, told the court that all he knew was that the two accused persons Saminu and Abdulkadir went to his house and his late wife informed them that he (Nura) was not around. However, while being taken to a vehicle parked at the premises of the court, Muhammad told newsmen that even if one of the two accused persons is my friend does not mean I am party to the murder of my beautiful wife late wife. Why on earth would I kill my own wife? He asked.

Confirming the Arrest, PPRO DSP Majia, said Nura is being interrogated at the Criminal Investigation Department Criminal Investigation Department CID of the command.
Alhaji Isa Fagge, late Aisha’s father, told Herald Newspaper that he was devastated upon learning of his daughter’s death.

“I was almost paralyzed by my daughter’s death, news of which i got while at work when my son Aminu called me. I have left everything to God. I lost Aisha all I can tell you know she is a good girl an obedient among the others she will never come back again. But since the police have taken over the case, I hope the will find who ever do this to her and punish him according to what he did, he said”.

Some residents of Sharada Ja’en spoke to Herald News paper, expressing concern, about the case. One of them Ismail Abdussamad, said “We hope the police will get the actual killers of this innocent woman.”

Another resident, Zainab Abubakar, said “it has been 16 years me and my Husband living in this area but we have never experienced this kind of incident so it’s shocking, seriously.”
