Troops nab suspected kidnappers, recover vehicle, charms in Edo

The Nigerian Army says it has arrested a suspected kidnapper and gun runner, Ekenaye Festus alongside four of his collaborators around Agbor Road, Iguomor Community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

Those arrested alongside Ekenaye Festus are Isaac Oghosa, Ameh Innocent, Odion Okpako and Ajayi Ayoola.

Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Capt. Chinonso Oteh disclosed this in a Monday statement.

According to the statement, personnel of Operation Wabaizigan from troops of 4 Brigade headquarters achieved the feat while acting on credible intelligence.

Oteh said the suspects were arrested in the early hours of Sunday, February 25.

He said they had been terrorising Obagie Community and were suspected to have been carrying out kidnappings and other criminal activities within the state.

“The suspects are currently in custody and aiding investigtion. Items recovered include one Hilux vehicle with registration number Lagos SMK 219 FX fitted with ember light, a handheld radio, three torch light phones, an android phone, a pair of desert boots, a pair of black boots, fragmentation jacket, jack knife pouch and several charms,” Oteh said.

The Commander, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Ebenezer Oduyebo commended the troops for their commitment and appealed to the public for more support to aid the troops operational efficiency in discharging their constitutional responsibilities.
