Military plane crashes: NASS should conduct public probe – Esele

A Nigerian Air Force plane crash-landed in Abuja at 10:48 am on Sunday, with six people on board.

The incident occurred close to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja runway en route to Minna, Niger State.

The Boeing 350 aircraft reportedly departed Abuja at 1033UTC with 6 persons on board including two crew.

The plane was said to have reported engine failure six minutes later, before crash-landing on the final approach path of Abuja Runway 22 at time 10:48UTC.

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika confirmed the incident in a Sunday tweet.

“A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure enroute Minna.

“It appears to be fatal. We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military, while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any,” Sirika wrote.

Firefighters are said to be at the scene battling to put out the resultant fire.
