Why Tinubu was Not Invited to APC NEC Meeting – Presidency

The Presidency has stated why the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu was not invited for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party being convened by faction party chairman Victor Giadom.

Giadom had called for a NEC meeting in Wednesday following the acceptance of his role as acting national chairman of the party by President Buhari.

Nigerians had observed that Tinubu was not invited for the meeting and wondered aloud at the depth of the leadership crisis within the APC.

The Special Assistant to the President on new media, Bashir Ahmaad however laid those speculations to rest.

He stated that the national party leader was not invited because he wasn’t a member of the party’s NEC.

“There are some people who need to know that the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party, hence, he doesn’t attend the NEC Meetings. This is very clear!” he tweeted.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party however said they won’t be attending the meeting stating that it will amount to turning a blind eye to illegalities within the party as well as clear violations of the constitution.
