Yaya Toure Set To Rejoin Ivory Coast

1 Min Read

Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure has announced the end of his international retirement with Ivory Coast.

The 34-year-old former Barcelona playmaker last played for the Elephants in September 2016.

Although he was part of the Ivorian team that won the 2015 African Cup of Nations and has over 100 appearances for the team, he failed to take part in many of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and the Elephants failed to reach Russia, having played in three World Cups for Ivory Coast since 2006.

However, his agent, Dimitri Seluk announced via Twitter that Toure will make himself available for selection for the national team.

“Yaya @YayaToure has decided to return to Ivory Coast national team . He wants to win another trophy with the Elephants of Ivory Coast,” Seluk tweeted.

He has failed to feature frequently in the EPL-dominating Manchester City side and many observers believe that national team football can help revive his ailing career.
