4 Min Read

Nigerians have berated Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma, for saying that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration  of President Muhammadu Buhari has moved 10.037 million Nigerians out of poverty into prosperity.

Udoma made the claim while speaking on arrangements for the 24th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES#24) in Abuja on Tuesday.

The minister addded that the Federal Government has provided 8.96million school children under the Home Grown School Feeding Programme; over 297,000 poor and vulnerable Nigerians supported with cash transfer of N5,000; successfully disbursed more than 308,000 loans of N50,000 and above under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) and 200,000 Young Unemployed Graduates Empowered through the N-Power scheme , while over 308,000 had been selected for consideration for the second batch.

amablaze07 Even in their dreamz its still not possible

abduloare How exactly does feeding children in school and giving #5,000 to the vulnerable equate to moving people to prosperity?

myte4uall Whenever they loan and they mention 50,000 naira, I feel like crying…How can you give someone $15 every month and expect them to be out of poverty, when it completely shows that on the average, they still live on less than a dollar per day? I feel like why would a government who issued loan of $130 to her citizens claim that they have completely uplifted 10 million people out of poverty? I am not a politician but only feels that the numbers don’t even add up. How can a country prosper on agriculture in this age and time, where despite the improved agricultural programs, the prices of goods and services keep skyrocketing. I pray sense for all Nigerians- (both home and abroad)…
