APC Not Behind Saraki’s CCT Travails – Gbajabiamila

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, has absolved the All Progressives Congress of any blame in the trial of President of the Senate Dr. Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Gbajabiamila, who represents Surulere I Federal Constituency of Lagos State, made this assertion in Abuja on Thursday in an interview with State House Correspondents after leading a delegation of the House to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

He denied any rift within the party, stating that Dr. Saraki’s case with the CCT was an issue of law that had nothing to do with the APC.

While briefing journalists on the nature of the meeting with President Buhari, Gbajabiamila said it was a routine visit aimed at cementing the cordial relationship that already existed between the Presidency and the House.

“This is just a routine visit to Mr. President; one arm of govt visiting another arm.

“You know the important role of the House, I being in charge of government business in the House, we discussed the issue of budget and a few other House keeping matters to further cement the relationship between the House and the president.

“Everything that has a beginning has an end I don’t think and I don’t know if there is any leadership crisis in the National Assembly.

“I’m not sure at what you’re alluding to; I’m not in the Senate. But the little I understand is that there is an issue involving the Senate President.

“That has nothing to do with the APC. That has to do with the issue of law and I’m sure the Senate President is being surely represented and he will have his day in court.”
