A group, Concerned Imo Professionals in Lagos, has written to President Goodluck Jonathan to caution Kano state Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso over his allegedly reckless utterance on the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Festus Odimegwu Odimegwu recently.

Kwankwaso had said to the media recently after meeting with Jonathan that Odimegwu was a big mistake having been appointed into a sensitive office, saying Odimegwu’s credentials were not apt for the position.

Hence, Kwankwaso call demanded the sack of Odumegwu who currently the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC) over his remarks that the 2006 Nigeria census was incorrect.

In a recently released statement, President of the group, Mr Vitus Okwara  said that the group will  take action against Kwankwaso unless the President Jonathan takes a decisive action to warn Kwankwaso on  what it saw as thoughtless comments being made to disparage  their fellow indigene.

The group noted that the governor has showcased himself to be a hardened Igbo- hater, hence warned him to be “mindful of his comments on issues concerning Ndigbo”.

The group however, revealed that it is in support of the comments made by Odimegwu , as his convincing observation on the census record is “an obvious fact”.

Buh Kwankwaso had said that even if the census was wrong, he (Odimegwu) now has the good opportunity to correct it.

“But instead of doing that, he has been running around to discredit the 2006 census” he stated earlier.
