Indiscipline: Buhari Orders Head of Service To Sanction Senior Civil Servants

President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a directive ordering the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, to deal decisively with any senior civil servant that flouts public service rules.

This was disclosed by Oyo-Ita in Abuja on Wednesday at a meeting with officers in the Directorate cadre in her office.

According to her, the directive from the presidency is expected to affect those in the assistant directorate and directorate levels.

She said that the:  “Federal government will not tolerate any act of indiscipline from any civil servant particularly a situation when workers form the habit of reporting to work late and closing before the official time of 4.00 pm, Mondays to Fridays.”

Adding that, “A directive has already been issued to apply appropriate sanctions to the erring officers according to the Public Service Rules.”

Calling on the civil servants to embrace the culture of efficiency, productivity and incorruptibility, she said that it was the responsibility of the senior civil servants to return the service to the path of honour and glory.
