An Indonesian mechanic on Wednesday was sentenced by a Malaysian court to two years in prison for possessing hundreds of Islamic State and other terrorism-related images and videos.

A Deputy Public Prosecutor, Mohamad Mustaffa-Kunyalam, said in Kuala Lumpur that Judicial Commissioner, Nordin Hassan, handed down the sentence to Ihsan, who has only one name.

He said Ihsan was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to owning 165 images and 211 videos about Islamic State, al-Qaeda and the Indonesian militant group East Indonesia Mujahideen, on his mobile phone.

He said the 32-year-old, whose prison term will run from his date of arrest on Dec. 1, 2015, came to Malaysia two years ago.

Malaysia, a predominantly Islamic South-East Asian country, has been unrelenting in its campaign against supporters of militant ideologies inside the country, arresting and charging in court more than 100 people since it began the crackdown in 2014.
