A female student of the Lagos State University (LASU) has died while a male student is in critical condition at the university’s Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) of a substance suspected to be poison after they both attended a send forth party that held outside the university campus, Sunday Sun reports.

The deceased student, a 200level student of the Department of History and International Relations , reportedly started foaming in the mouth and vomiting blood shortly after returning from the party where she ate and drank, fuelling suspicions that her meal might have been spiked with poison.

The male student also exhibited the same symptoms and is currently under watch at the teaching hospital, where doctors are presently monitoring his situation.

According to the report, the deceased student’s family members on Friday stormed the university campus, alleging foul play because of the blood oozing out of the victim’s mouth and nose before her death.

However, some of the students that attended the party and sat on the same table told university authorities that they ate the same food as the victims.

The party where she consumed the food that allegedly led to her death took place in an un-named hotel outside the university campus, without the school and student union’s approval, it was gathered.

The university authorities have commenced investigations into the circumstances leading to the female student’s death and the male student’s hospitalization, and have also directed the party organisers to furnish them with the names of the lecturers from the school that attended the said party.
