Manitoba Finally Given Control Of TCN

1 Min Read

As part of its ongoing power reform programme which is aimed at ensuring stable power supply in Nigeria, the Federal Government has handed over the Transmission Company of Nigeria to a Canadian firm, Manitoba Hydro International (MHI).

It will be recalled that in July 2012, Manitoba won the contract to manage operations of TCN at a sum of $23.7 million for three years.

According to the contract terms, Manitoba is expected to take up staffing and management of key departments of TCN such as the Systems Operations, Transmission Service Provider, National Control Centre, Information Technology and Market Operations.

It was gathered that, the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, signed off the controversial “schedule of delegated authority” for MHI to immediately commence operations at TCN.
