NDLEA arrests 105 suspected drug dealers in Ogun

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun Command said on Monday that no fewer than 105 suspected drug offenders were arrested in the state between January and June.

The state Commander of the agency, Mr. Bala Fagge, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta that the suspects were arrested with over 3,400 kilograms of illicit drugs, mostly cannabis and Indian hemp.
Fagge said that the suspects were arrested during raids and mop-ups by the men of the agency.
He explained that “within this period, 25 suspects have been successfully convicted while over 40 cases are at various stages of prosecution’’.

The commander said the agency destroyed 18 nurseries of Indian hemp at area J4 Forest Reserves, Ogun waterside council area.

“Last week, specifically on Wednesday, we are at area J4 Forest Reserves and with the collaboration of the state Ministry of Forestry, we were able to destroy 18 Nurseries of Indian hemp.
“We achieve this feat based on the logistics and resources available at our disposal’’.
The commander stressed the resolve of the agency to end illicit drug in the area and warned that those who deal in it would be fished out for prosecution. (NAN)
